Food & Beverage: The First Sign of Revival for Hotels in India

The relaxation of online food delivery by GOI has opened a door for hotel operators to restart the revenues which were negligible for more than 90 days starting March 2020. To this opportunity, many branded hotels have tied up with online food aggregators to leverage the delivery network that already exists and focus on creating good food for the customers.

Hotels & resorts depend significantly on the food & beverage revenue generated from the property. The segment contributes nearly 35-40% in the overall revenue for hotel brands in India which makes this segment an important factor for a hotel’s sustainance.

Without entering a new territory of food delivery, these players (hotel brands) have continued to focus on their area of expertise which is cooking and packing. In this pandemic, when the tourism industry is reeling under severe stress, re-opening the F&B segment and allowing hotels to use their kitchens for food-delivery has opened a door for these hotels to survive in these turbulent times.
